The 2009 vintage looks early !

After the budburst and the appearance of the first leaves mid April, the vines have grown really fast. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, the vine shoots have lengthened. The leaves cover now the whole trellising. Our hillsides wear green again!

In our vineyards around Colmar, the blossoming is now completed. On this Riesling cluster, one can still see a few flowers.

The grapes take shape slowly. The stamens are still visible, when the berries begin to enlarge. For the moment, most of the clusters are upright; they will soon hang down under the weight of the berries.

Winegrowers use to say that the grapes are ripe 100 days after the blossoming. We know this rule has to be qualified in accordance to the climatic conditions and the style of wine we want to make. But we will certainly have to crop the first clusters early September!
