Late harvest in pictures !

We have started the harvest early this year, but mid-October the vineyard finally turns to autumnal colors. The hillsides leaves are yellowing while they are already falling in the lowlands.

Thanks to a quick ripening, the late harvest Riesling and Pinot Gris have been picked early this year. But end of October, the last Gewurztraminer are still keeping us waiting. The grapes being beautiful and very ripe, we start the picking of this variety. Some bunches are still healthy, some others show dried berries and noble rot.

The last days of October, the rain interrupts the late harvests picking! A rainy and fresh weather settles for three weeks. Our team stops the harvest and starts the winter works (uprooting of the dead vinestocks, ploughing...)

Between the 18th and the 20th of November, we are finally rewarded for our patience! The sun has dried out the grapes and the remaining Gewurztraminer are perfect to make rich and concentrated Vendanges Tardives.

Without the leaves, the work is now much easier!

The last buckets of grapes of the year are picked carried in the sun, like a September day!
