The Spring at last !

Early April, the spring seems to appear at last ! The hillsides are overgrown with flowers and the vines are waking up.

The 2009 winter has been long and cold. From the end of november to mid march, it gave us no moment's respite. We have taken advantage of this long period to prune the vines, repair their trellising and get them ready for a new growing season. 
The sunny weather of the last weeks and the warm temperatures have helped the plants to start again their cycle. A quick tour in the surrounding vineyards shows that the vines develop fast.
From now, the growth of these little buds will dictate our work and give us rhythm until the harvest !

After a long dormancy, the buds are swelling and opening. Then, small leaves come out of the fuzz of the bud. That's what we call the bud burst.

Within a few days , the leaves come out and unfold ; you can already catch a glimpse of the inflorescences that will become bunch of grapes.
